Bowel disease

Hi, does anyone know if early weaning is linked to bowel diseases like ulcerative colitis or crohns?

I have UC. I was told by my doctors that little is known yet about exactly what causes UC - there is a genetic factor (so if either parent has it that's an indicator) but there are also environmental factors. I think it's been relatively neglected in research for sexier things to date. So not sure there will be much useful info on this, though I'll be interested to see what others post.

Hi Eightieschick, sorry to hear you have this horrid disease. My dh has UC and has currently been in relapse now for 8 months, my ds is 5 months old and really needs his daddy to be well. Anyway the reason I was asking was I was at a weaning talk today and when I mentioned that ds's dad had UC they said definitely wait until 6 months to wean him because of this (which I was anyway) but she couldn't say if it was linked.... Research of this disease is limited which shocks me as the effects are devastating.
