How long does the gagging go on for?

I've a terrible phobia of being sick (myself and others) and a lot of that is to do with the associated noise(s). DS found a lump in his potato this evening and gagged horribly for about 30 seconds, I thought I was going to faint.

Please tell me it doesn't last long? Sad

It didn't last long at all with my DD, she did it quite a lot when we first started giving solids, and now only if she is negotiating quite a large bit. I found it helpful to know that the gag reflex is nearer the front of the mouth with a baby, so it's a natural safety mechanism. Also, my DD has gagged but never vomited as a result. Knowing that, I can concentrate on giving her big smiles and reminding her to chew while it's happening, and she has always recovered v quickly.

Thank you. I guess I'll just have to keep going - and smiling!
