I am about to make the big step of weaning my 6 mo dd from breastfeeding to formula, and water at meal times. I know that to avoid engourgment or infection I need to do this gradually, but how long wud people recommend leaving between changing each feed?

I THINK you are supposed to drop a bf every week. But of course it will depend on you and your boobs.

Oh, and meant to add, it might be worth posting this in the bf topic too for some more advice.

Yes, think it's 3-7 days per feed, but it will depend on your supply. You might find it takes more or less time than that to adjust so you don't feel like you've missed a feed iyswim.

I dropped a feed every 3 days. Hand expressed a tiny bit just to make myself a little more comfortable then wore a well supportive bra and tight top. Think I was a bit uncomfortable for about a week but then it passed.
