I am actually half canadian and half portuguese. Foreigners not welcome on mumsnet ??

NotQuiteCockney · 23/11/2005 09:43

Um, mapleleaf, I'm Canadian. Lots of foreigners here.

I'm just embarassed by the Canadian habit of plastering oneself in maple leaves and other signs of our nationality.

oliveoil · 23/11/2005 09:45

where in Canada are you from NQC, ay ay ay?

NotQuiteCockney · 23/11/2005 09:47

Um, OO, why are you pretending to be a pirate? Or did you mean "eh?"

I'm from Toronto, and Montreal.

oliveoil · 23/11/2005 09:52

no, canadians always say 'a' after everything.

Dh was born there but came back here when a baby, has tons of family in Calgary and Edmonton. I have never been as cold in my life as when I was there, minus 30 with wind chill of minus 42 or something ridiculous.

NotQuiteCockney · 23/11/2005 10:04

We do, eh, but we spell it "eh". It's pronounced like how you say the letter "a", though, as you say.

It is very cold on the prairies, except when it's really really hot.

I think its perfectly reasonable to identify yourself with an emblem of your country!
