Finger foods

My DS is nearly 7 months and I'm not sure what finger foods I can give him. He has fruit, rice crackers and that's about it.

What finger food do you give your DC?

rigatoni, toast soldiers, meatballs, burgers, potato wedges, steam carrot/broccoli, strips of omelette

at 7 months my lot were basically eating what we were eating..... so anything they could get in their hands was finger food lol.
sticks of carrot/courgette, pieces of broccoli, potatoes, fruit, toast, sandwiches...

With toast, I'm worries he may choke on it. What do you guys put on it?

On toast we put: peanut butter, cream cheese, fruit spread, mashed banana, mashed avocado.

Other fingerfoods are anything he can pick up in this house (7mo), anything apart from whole nuts and stuff with too much salt/sugar. So, fishcakes, chunks of chicken/steak, cheese, sweetcorn fritters, burgers, pasta, veg, fruit, curry, omelette, quiche... and lots of other stuff. Just give him a bit of something off your plate.

My DS, now 11 months, loves roasted veggies - chunky sweet potatoes, parsnips and carrots in particular.

Scrub well, leaving peel on, cut into chunks/fingers (they will shrink, so leave on the chubby side), toss in olive oil and bake in oven for 20 - 30 mins. Leave to cool.

I make a batch every time I have the oven on and they keep really well in a Tupperware box in the fridge for a few days (if they last that long!).

Slices or chunks of roast or stewed meat is good. Meatballs, fresh and dried fruit, roast vegetables, sliced hard boiled eggs or blobs of scrambled eggs, very thick porridge (quite messy), cheese. Most things can be made into finger foods really - just cut the food into the kind of shape that is easy for your baby to pick up (batons/sticks are the easiest at first). As they get more adept, the pieces can be cut smaller - and they will eventually manage individual peas and raisins!
