My 16 month old daughter won't eat

We had been doing a kind of BLW approach with my daughter, who is 16 months old. But recently, she started eating a lot less. I live in India and it is summer here and very hot, so some people say this might be the cause. She has been unwell and had fever for three days, and is now totally refusing to eat. Though she is still breastfeeding, she has really lost a lot of weight and I am starting to worry a lot. Have any of you had the experience of your children not eating, and if so, what should we do about it?

Hi helloitsme, I have recent experience of my dd (18months) not eating and I know how frustrating and distressing it is. Our situations are slightly different in that my dd has not been unwell, so I didn't even have that excuse to put it down to!! For the past, at least, couple of months her appetite has been very poor. She was never a massive eater but we were struggling to get even 1 decent meal into her a day. I took her to the doctor and he checked her over and said that she was fine, healthy and he put it down to teething, as she had just cut one of her back teeth. Her eating has improved slightly but it's still not great. She will eat yoghurts, sweetcorn, raisans and peas if she is in an eating mood, otherwise she will just eat ont mouthful and thats it. The doc said she just does not have a big appetite. We are a bit more relaxed about it now but it still winds me up when she doesn't eat. I would take her to see the doctor to put your mind at rest. She may have a sore throat, or something lingering from when she was unwell. Good luck, let me know how you get on
