Hello,

My bottle fed (nearly) 8 month old was weaned at close to 6 months with pureed stuff and did well to start with. Her day used to start at 7 with milk followed by breakfast, 10.30 am milk, 11.45 lunch, 2.30pm milk, 4.45pm dinner(+ little milk) and 6.30 pm milk. When she was eating a resonable amount of 3 meals+puddings etc I cut out the 10.30 and 4.45 milk feeds.

She has started refusing spoon feeds on and off for a few weeks now and because she is better at picking things up and chewing, I've tried a mixed approach i.e I give her some finger foods and try and sneek in some puree stuff. The problem now is that she hates puree but does not eat vast amounts of finger foods either. Worried that she is not getting enough nutrition. Has about 600 ml of milk per day and seems settled at night-occasionally waking once or twice but not needing feeds.

My question is...should I re-introduce milk feeds at 10.30 and 4.45 till she is eating well by herself? Her apetite has never been great but she will have small pieces of toast or omelette(most of it on the floor or highchair), a little fruit and a biscuit and a drink of water for lunch for instance but not much else. Even less for dinner.

Any advice much appreciated....thanks!

It's a tricky one because we always want to make sure our lo's eat enough. I watched a programme once and she put everything her lo ate in a carrier bag, including fluids then held it up to lo's tummy. The point (as this is visual) is lo's tummies are only small.

Another tip which has helped me so much with my dd (who is also a spoon refuser) was I held (as though I was putting in her mouth) or gave her a dummy in her hand, when she went to put this in her mouth I would sneak the puree in. Then eventually she just let me feed her. Think she thought, sod this for a game of soldiers lol.
I also give her the Hipp night time milk as it has extra cereal in apparently, she loves it.
