hi, can anyone offer me some advice.....my dd2 is ebf, and unlike with my other 2 when the advice was to begin weaning at 4 mo, I waited until she was 18 weeks before offering her small tastes. She seemed to enjoy it at first, but after a week seemed to change her mind. Anything with the slightest lump or grain - or even a thicker puree - makes her gag, so she refuses my homemade stuff and only now and then will eat a bit from a pouch....... she is on the lowest percentile, but healthy and alert and sleeping through the night. Any ideas what I can do or shouldn't do???? Confused

i would say relax.. if she is EBF and sleeping through (therefore not starving!!) take it easy! It's only a guideline, after all.. these first few months are all about getting used to the different textures etc. How about leaving it for a couple of days and coming back to it when you're less uptight?
FWIW I was definitely only starting at 6.5 mths with DS.. only spoonfuls at the beginning.. like, maybe 1 or 2!
He will be 3 next week and looks like he eats for the national team!

My DS was only having a bit of pureed banana at 6 and a 1/2 months for breakfast now at nearly 9 months he had steak strips, cherry tomatoes and a pear for lunch. :)

I started out with puree then progressed to mashed with a fork and over the last month he's been having lots of finger food. I wouldn't worry she'll soon be wolfing down solids.

thanks guys - I think I do need to just stop worrying and take it easy. I'll just keep offering her small tastes and she'll get it eventually. :)
