Finger foods

Hi,

I have been giving my nearly 7 month old finger foods with most meals and although she enjoys eating them she doesn't hold them herself. She happily eat things I hold for her and will hold onto my hand and guide it to her mouth! All toys etc she picks up and puts in her mouth but for some reason doesn't do it with food! She will occasionally pick the things up move them around and then shake her hand until it falls away!! It's not the mess/sensation of food as her hands get covered in purée ad she grabs onto the spoon while I feed her and she doesn't mind that! Is this all normal? When will we be able to just put bits on her tray for her to pick up and feed herself?!

Thanks!

I don't know the answer but would just keep putting bits onto her tray at every mealtime and hopefully she'll finally get the idea. A friend's DD didnt put any food into her mouth for 4 weeks and then suddenly 1 day started to eat and has never looked back.
