DD (30 wks) has been weaning with purees from around 16wks and took to it like a dream even when moving on to lumpier foods, but for the past two weeks has been refusing to let me feed her or eat (although has been more than happy to try and steal off my plate! Hmm )

So I thought sod it, lets see what all this BLW fuss is about. Cleared the floor, put down an old bed sheet, put a big plate of cooked dinner between me and DD and..............she scoffed the lot! Grin Potatoes, carrot sticks, broccoli, strips of chicken all picked up and eaten with 'nom nom' noises!

The look of pure glee and determination on DD face has made up my mind to chuck away the masher and let her lead the way. I am CONVERTED!!!! Shock

(although I may have to stock up on kitchen roll and a better mop and bucket if all meals will be this messy! Confused Grin )

we are blw newbies too, one meal convinced me, i was so skeptical, but we are sold too, what are you doing re breakfast? can;'t find a real low salt cereal thats not full of junk?

also are you using a beaker or a cup, and what about an apron for dc?

sorry for all the questions Blush

this is ds3 BlushBlush

I either do toast fingers with some fruit, crumpets Blush or let her some wheatabix/oatabix from my bowl (found that one out when she kept grabing the bowl and spoon from me, I am now just going to put double in my bowl as DD seems to think if Mummy's got it, it must be good!)

I've got two aprons, one with sleeves that is a bit too long from asda and then a sleeveless tunic wipeclean type one from Poundland Grin thats been a godsend. I've tried the TT Pelican bib but DD seems to interested in chewing it than her food so I've left it off.

Beakers! My house is full of beakers!!! Blush I've got everything from TT Tip it Up cups to your Wilkinson little wonders sippy cups, but I use advent bottles so bought the handles and spouts to go on them instead of the teats.

Dont worry about all the questions I used to lurk browse the BLW threads Blush and will be doing even more so! Grin

Dimples Grin fun isn't it!!

A steam mop is the way forward & naked feeding!! (well, a nappy or you'll end up with even more mess!! If it's warm enough, high chair in the garden is bliss!

Flisspaps · 03/05/2011 18:55

gkys Shreddies or Shredded wheat are low salt and good for little hands to pick up.

DD has tried a beaker as well as a doidy, she can use the doidy but can't put it down without spilling so is on a beaker.

Poundland do washable bibs with sleeves, which are ideal.

Envy at the amount your DD will eat.

Boy is 33 weeks/nearly 8 months and still eats very little although he makes a tremendous mess while doing it. We got through half a plum earlier in 35 minutes, all the bigger bits were spat back out.
