Food before bed

Hi all,

Is there a general guide as to how close to bedtime you can feed your little one their tea? Our timings are all over the place with our 6 month old at the moment and sometimes dinner is getting quite close to bedtime, I feel that she needs more time to let her dinner go down before getting in the bath but my husband says it doesn't really matter ....... who's right?!

Thanks

Well I'd give it a bit of time - you wouldn't like to go to bed on a full tummy? Plus I assume she has milk before bed too - that'll be messed up if she's just had dinner.

Dinner time was always around 5pm with the bedtime bottle around 7pm. I found if I gave milk too close to dinner that it made ds sick up his milk. If you havent had that problem and it isnt making her uncomfortable then it doesnt really matter how close dinner, bathtime, etc is.

I always do dinner between 4-30 and 5-15 and bedtime bottle at 7.

We tend to do food quite close to bedtime, as ds has dinner with us - something like dinner 6.30pm, straight into the bath after at 7pm, breastfeed after the bath and then into bed around 7.30-7.45pm.

DS 7mo has tea and milk about 5.30 and then bath and bedtme BF by 6.30, into bed around 7pm. However, he has been really unsettled in the early and or rest of the night, possibly with tummy ache.

His whole routine is under review at the moment as I am not sure what is working TBH Confused

I would try not to have tea too close to bedtime if I was you. But then if your DD seems fine there may be no need to worry or change anything.

Your husband is right.

No colditz no!!

We seem to be putting her in the bath around 6.30 and having a bedtime bottle at around 7. It seems to be the thing that has fallen into a regular time. I'd like to give her dinner no later than 5.30 so that by the time she's eaten it she will have half hour before getting into the bath. My husband says 6 is fine and then virtually straight into the bath!

Thanks

Tonight we had dinner just after 7, ds was in the bath by half past and had milk and was in bed by 8pm (asleep already!) - doesn't seem to do him any harm.

ella maybe drop the milk with tea and just have tea. Otheruwse it's a lot to eat!!

Thanks all. We'll keep going as we are then and not worry too much about time!
