Anyone do a bit of BLW and a bit of spoon feeding?

Ahh the things I thought I wouldn't do. DS is 23 weeks and I think ready for weaning now but he hasn't had anything yet, he is EBF. He sleeps pretty badly and was awake loads last night so I am on my knees a bit. In my old, more judgey days, I thought it was wrong to fill a baby with food to make them sleep, now I just want some sleep!

So, I was planning on BLW but it will take a while before he has any substantial food and I think he is hungry from the night waking. Do you think it would work to spoon feed him one meal before bed and keep the rest to finger food, just until he has the hang of eating more?

Thanks

OP I was in the same situation as you at that stage with dd2. I did blw with dd1 but had decided because of dd2's many night awakenings that I would try and spoon feed a bit of weetabix/ready brek in the hope it would make her sleep a wee bit better. To no avail - she had other ideas. Like her sister she refused to be spoon fed and so I reverted to blw. She obviously wasn't ready, and at 6 months was happier with exploring tastes and textures than actually filling her tummy with any solid food. She has now reached 8 months and is eating loads, and is really good at eating her cereal off the spoon herself (hand her the spoon) so I'm v pleased with how weaning has gone so far.

However, sorry to report her sleeping is just as bad as ever! Confused

They are all different, I would just go with what your baby wants to do (you may have no choice anyway Grin , and if that's a mix of self-feeding and spoonfeeding, fine.

liking v much the term self-feeding btw. we should all adopt it imo! Smile

mine's the same as campervan's btw. bed 8pm, wakes for feed 10.30pm, 2am ish and 5 am ish and up for the day at 6.30. Dd1 slept through - 11 hours straight, from the age of 10 weeks or so and almost NEVER wakes up ever now at 3, so this is my payback time Grin
