how do you get a 1 year old off the bottle and off formula?

my one year old will not drink milk from the sippy cup. she expects/wants it to be water which she happily takes from the cup.

on a second note I am also having a hard time getting the milk down her instead of formula... is the formula really so horrible to continue? I have tried mixing but can only manage a small amount of milk before she refuses..

any suggestions?
also which is more important to get right first...the bottle issue or the milk issue?

you can happily continue to give her formula if you want to. Sometimes it is preferable to keep up the formula, especially if you have a picky eater as it is fortified to give them a good dose of vit and minerals etc.

I have noticed that the toddler milk is very sweet, almost vanillaish. Plain cows milk is much more plain. Does your LO have a bit of a sweet tooth? if so, that might explain the preference.

In terms of the bottles/sippy cups, i would concentrate on the milk issue and leave the sippy cups for another day. My DD is 12months also and while she will take milk from a sippy cup it is not with nearly the same enthusiasm as she does from a bottle. She is only having 2 bottles a day at the moment (breakfast and bedtime) so i am not too worried about it.

If you are really concerned about it though you could try offering her the milk in a cup with a straw. It is probably sufficiently different from a normal sippy cup for her to not reject it outright. DD will drink anything if i present it to her with straw.
