Has anyone held off for longer than 6 months for blw?

Ds is 25 weeks but still has a fairly pronounced tongue thrust and can't sit unaided yet. Has anyone delayed weaning past 6 months and, if so, when was your dc ready? Was it the right decision to wait?

My family and friends really are going to think I'm bonkers if I wait much longer (I don't know anyone who hasn't weaned by six months, let alone later!) but I'm faaaaaar to lazy to puree!

Yes. DS wasn't sitting unaided at 26 weeks so we waited...didn't have to wait long though - 3 weeks later and he was sitting on his own just fine and so we started BLW. He attacked his carrot sticks with gusto and swallowed some on that very first meal. Looking back though we could have waited even longer as within a couple of weeks he'd lost all interest and didn't eat anything for a good month. I have no regrets about starting slightly later and would happily wait for as long as necessary depending on the baby. I know people who's LO's didn't eat any solids until they were over 12 months old. BM was all they needed Smile

My dd2 didn't eat anything till she was 9m. i did offer but she just threw it.
She was above the 95th centile and did just fine on bm.

likewise. ds1 was sitting by 6 months,we offered, but he chose to wait another few months before eating anything. 91st centile and walked before he ate. you just gotta go at your baby's pace.
