Baby pasta

The packet says from 7 months.

Does anyone know whether this is because of the texture, or because of one of the ingredients in the pasta?

DS (6.5 mo) is fine with lumps and happily sucks on normal pasta spirals. It's just the baby-specific food that gets me all confused!

Baby food manufacturers seem to think 4-7 months they have to have smooth puree, then 7-10 months puree with lumps, 10-12 months mashed fodd - so tiny little bits of pasta = lumpy food. No reason not to use normal pasta smashed up small though!

Baby pasta and suchlike are unnecessary. Just feed him the adult version. Mine use to love getting their hands into a bowl of fusilli. Grin

Probably because it's so small it would need to be spoonfed and so presents a choking hazard until they've properly started chewing.

I just went with adult sized pasta spirals too :) If you happen to have some baby pasta already, it's nice in soup.

ignore the label. they can have anything except honey from 6 months. Don't really understand what baby pasta is for though. Mine eat bowlfuls of the adult stuff

Brill, thank you.

I will continue with my policy of ignoring the baby food shelf and just giving him actual proper food - which is what I was quite happily doing until I strayed into the baby aisle this morning and started worrying!
