BLW and FF help!

I have been BLW ds nearly 6 months for a couple of weeks only doing dinner at moment as bit young but some stuff is definitely being eaten .

I am FF and would like to know if others in this situation kept on stage 1 milk or moved on to 6 month + milk. If that is lower in calories then I don't want him missing out as he is only eating tiny bits , nothing like a purée baby would be having.

I'm not FF but I've always heard that follow on milk is not necessary, continuing with stage 1 milk is fine . As the formula companies can't advertise stage 1 milk, they heavily advertise follow on, so lots of people think it's necessary.

We BLW, and moved DD up to the next stage milk at 6mo just because it was cheaper (not the toddler milk) but at 12mo she went on to cows milk rather than the pointless toddler milk.

She ate like a bird (still does) but it never occurred to me to to check the calories of one compared to the other.

Just realised I added an extra toddler milk in there, so it reads crappily!

I moved onto stage 2 milk when I stopped BF DD at 8 months without even thinking about what choceyes said (which makes sense), but when shops are doing special offers on formula it doesn't include stage 1 due to govt legislation, whereas stage 2 is included. Boots are currently doing 3 for 2 on most baby stuff so I've stocked up on formula as it's bloody expensive!

Also, I think stage 2 has a slightly different concentration of vits & minerals to stage 1 but no idea about the calories.

HTH.
