apparently I need to be getting my one year old off the bottle. She only has two 6.5 oz bottles per day...one during the day and one before bed...

Although she loves to drink her water from a sippy cup... as soon as i put the milk in there she doesnt like it... its like she is expecting water. Then she starts throwing and spilling it everywhere which is fine with water...not so fine with milk....

can anyone suggest a different type of sippy cup one that is different from her water ones somehow?

how did you get your toddler off the bottle? and does it really matter that much? i am not sure why the bottle is so bad...

any help much appreciated...

It doesn't really matter so long as you clean her teeth afterwards and don't let her take a bottle to bed or put juice/ribena in it. It can cause tooth decay if you let them have sugary things from a bottles as the liquid pools around their teeth.

my experience: DS1 - totally failed this battle. We were both so stubborn when I tried taking his bottle away (aged between 12-18months) that he basically refused to drink any milk until he got to school, and then he remembered he liked it.

DS2 - Having failed so dramatically the first time, I was a bit mean, and gave him a cup with milk in for the first time after he'd had a couple of days of sickness and diarrhoea. He'd only been having water with those salts in, and was desperate for any kind of milk or food, so he didn't turn it down.... I accept that's a bit harsh (although it did the trick), but I guess my suggestion is to leave it until they're really desperate for milk one day, and then try it.
