I know this is probably a really stupid question but can i try a filo parcel type thing with spinach in it? DD is fine with most things but for example with some pears there is A LOT of retching with skin getting stuck in her mouth and I was wondering if spinach is along these lines.

By the way I also do purees but where possible I would rather she feeds herself hence my quest for all things finger foodable

You can give anything bar whole grapes/nuts until DD is older, and honey until she's one.

Spinach is surprisingly popular with my son (now 12 months but having spinach since 6 months, BLW). He especially loves it in cheesy sauce with pasta (I just pop the frozen spinach into the cheese sauce and defrost it on the hob). But he also loves spinach and feta filo pastries.

Hi Flip

that is what I am going to attempt next! Although when I get excited and make something new it invariably gets ignored

My dc1 and 2 love spinach (age 4 and 6) and I'm going to copy you and make pasties with spinach and ricotta for them and dc3 (9m). Fab idea. I'll chop the spinach (actually leaf beat) fine though.

Well the feta samosas were more like feta crumpled piles and DD was not interested as predicted and I had to throw half away because the brush I was using to brush oil on was malting into the spinach mix but other than that they were delicious! Moo I hope your pasties went well what pastry did you use?

I make pasties from shortcrust, the older ones like it but I think dc3 may spit it out and eat the filling like she does with quiche. I roll out on cling film, cut the circles and then use the cling film to help fold over and crimp. Then remove clingfilm! The filling is fried onion, chard or spinach, breadrumbs, creme fraiche/ricotta and grtaed cheese.
