Hi there, DS is 5 months old and on 3 meals a day, he has cut his 11am milk feed - thing is how much milk should he be having? Right from the start he has never really liked his bottle, i do put milk in his food to bump up the amount he has so to speak but i am lucky if he has about 20 oz in a day! Should i be worried? I can't remember what i did with my DD and i have worried myself a bit by reading somewhere that a 5 month old 'should' be having 21-28 mls of formula a day. He is growing well, i might add.

Thank you

A 6-12 month old should be having 21+ oz a day, under 6 months they should have 2.5 times their weight in lbs. So a 10lb baby has 25oz.

The above advice only applies if you wean at 6m. But you probably knew that RitaMorgan.

TeaDrinker At least 20oz if on 3 meals a day. Formula is porridge, rice etc can count towards that 20oz.

HTH.

I introduced solids at 5 months but didn't drop any milk feeds til 6 months - if you're going to wean early it's just a compliment to milk, not to replace it.

My HV said about a pint of milk a day, although not sure what that is in mls and whatever way you can get it in them, milk, food, yoghurt etc.
