Introducing new flavours - purees

Hi,

We have recently started weaning our 5 month old. Last week she had baby rice for 3 days and then baby muesli for 2 days. As she was very hungry we have started her on a 2nd meal of the day. Yesterday and today she had carrot so today as an example she had

7am bottle
10am muesli then milk
1pm bottle
4pm carrot then milk
7pm bottle

Timings are very rough!!! I am thinking of introducing new flavours within these two meals can you advise if you think the following plan sounds sensible - obviously this is presuming she likes the things we give her!! Feeds not mentioned will still be milk and I'll still be giving her milk after her food!

Tues

10 - banana
4 - carrot

Wed / Thurs

10 - banana
4 - butternut squash

Fri

10 - muesli
4 - butternut squash

Sat / Sun

10 - apple
4 - carrot

Mon / Tues

10 - Pear
4 - carrot

Wed / Thurs

10 - banana
4 - sweet potato

Fri / Sat

10 - apple and pear
4 - Parsnip

Sun

10 - apple
4 - trio of veg (annabel karmel recipe)

Thankyou!!!

Sounds fine to me (although I didn't do puree so could be completely wrong) however I wouldn't think you need to worry about being routined/structured - just give her a bit of whatever's to hand, rather than sticking to your meal plan like superglue :)

Hee hee! Don't worry it's not a plan for me to stick to too much. I just wanted an idea as to when I should introduce new flavours for her! Don't want to overwhelm her but do want her to start tasting new things!

Anyone else?

Thanks

sounds good - but check the muesli. Not supposed to give gluten or cows' milk to a baby younger than 6 months. I've been giving DD one new fruit/veggie a day (with the other meal made up of things she in used to) for 2 days to see if she has a reaction, and then I move on to the next one. So far, all fine. Except I think banana gave her tummy ache. Haven;t tried Annabel K yet - are her recipes good? And easy???

Thanks, I've re-checked the muesli, it's gluten free with no added milk. It's just the cow and gate one from 4 months old.

Don't really know about Annabel Karmel yet, have only used her book for a rough idea about the purees-portion size etc. The trio of veg is literally 3 veg purees she's used to all mixed up together!

Things are going well so far, only had a couple of flavours, but she's liked them!
