hi,

DD is 20 weeks and following advice from my HV we tried a litte baby rice with our 10am feed yesterday.

Last night was horrendous - she was curled up in pain and had lots of wind. 2am bath and massage eased her but she was really unsettled.

Should I try again today with the baby rice - or wait a few weeks and try again - from what I have read her gut may be too immature.

I wouldnt.
Unless your HV advised you for a medical reason that you havent mentioned and the benefits will outweigh the discomfort that it will cause, then there is no point if it is actually hurting your DD.
Leave it another few weeks and then try.

She won't be missing out on anything if you shelve the baby rice for another few weeks. There are people on here more knowledgeable than I, but my HV told me that the standard advice was that babies need nothing but milk until they are six months.

Just leave her...why did she suggest it? If there was a medical reason fair enough...if it was just her age, I wouldnt bother.

Also I would just leave the baby rice full stop. Would you eat it? Grin

Thanks guys.

I'll just leave it.

No medical reason - she has been EBF and for the last 2 weeks up every 2-3 hours at night for a feed - so I looked exhausted which is why it was suggested that she needed more - she said her standard advice was nothing before 17 weeks, and if signs are there try to hold out to 20 weeks.

Her weight gain has been on the slow side but nothing of concern (I am a whippet too).

Thanks so much!
