Hi, what exactly is BLW, do you just let them grab what they like from your plate? Surely they should have pureed food first and then gradually get used to lumps? Am curious as weaning my dd now and not sure how to BLW. Is this a new concept as i've only heard of it recently or am I being a bit thick!? Ta

The idea is that from 6 months when a child is ready to be weaned, they're beyond needing food pureed. They can eat what we eat (within reason, no honey, whole nuts, limit sugar/salt etc). They can pick up, bite, chew and swallow food. No purees necessary.

It's not new at all really. Food processors and ice cube trays are fairly modern I think. Grin

You do what suits you.

DD's first meal was a roast dinner at 6.5 months and she took to blw just fine.

blw concept is not new at all.
with blw you let your dc feed him/herself. can be puree on a loaded spoon, can be finger food.
my dd had everything we had for dinner, except in more "handy" proportions, i.e. toast finger with creamcheese instead of a slice of toast. a stem of broccoli instead of a tiny flower.
