My DD is nearly 7 months old and i am having problems getting her to eat pureed food or solids.
whenever i put the spoon near her mouth she closes it and refuses to open. I have tried giving her the spoon and she just throws it down.
If i make her laugh i can get the food in but then she just ends up being sick or gags on the food.
Im sure i did not have this much trouble with my DS and im worried the milk wont b enough for her soon.
Is there a point wen she really SHOULD be eating solids or am i worrying too much?

The point when she really should be having solids as a main part of her diet is 1yo so you have quite a while to go yet.

HAve you tried giving her finger foods instead?

Defo try with finger foods - just started with my 23 week DD2, I know she's a bit older, but just try putting some finger foods on her highchair tray & sit back with a cuppa & see what she does with it. Thet're very good at picking up on anxiety around feeding time & it makes the whole thing more tricky. I wouldn't try to trick her into opening her mouth, because they soon catch on & learn not to oblige. So far DD2s had a good munch/play on ripe pear, apple quarters (microwaved for 20 secs to soften them), steamed carrot sticks & mashed potato. It can be hard to see other babies wolfing down buckets of food when yours isn't that fussed, but it sounds like she likes to be in charge - you could have a couple of days of just letting her play & see what happens.

I'm having exactly the same problems! When I manage to get a mouthful in it feels like force feeding, but finger foods don't work either because if anything breaks off in his mouth he gags til it comes out (is often sick with it). Today I think he might have eaten quite a bit from one of those Ella pouches though - I was holding it and squeezing gently while letting him suck the top. Have you tried these OP? They are much smoother than any of the purees I've made myself.
