Being sick after any solids - 7 months

DS2 is nearly 7 months. He is DS3 so you think I would have cracked this but I am confused.

He has been 'developmentally ready' for solids since he was about 20 weeks old in that he could sit unsupported, bring things to his mouth and was chewing on everything. He has been very very eager to eat solids from then.

At about 23 weeks I stopped stopping him from putting food in his mouth. He put things in his mouth like cucumber, bread, veg etc and chewed on it fine but didnt really eat anything.

The problem came when he started to swallow things. Nine times out of ten he really gags and splutters on any food and is often quite forcefully sick a few times.

I followed BLW with the other two but have since tried DS2 on some purees to see if that helped. He will occasionally have a couple of baby spoonfulls of very runny puree (plum baby fruit type or fromage frais). Home pureed foods he gags on. In fact most purees he gags on. I just gave him a spoon of yoghurt and he gagged and was sick. He always wants these foods, opens his mouth and seems to like the taste - til he swallows it.

Am a mixture of worried something is physically wrong and anxious because I have to go back to work in 2 weeks Confused

I don't really know, but it sounds as if something is not quite right. I think I might be tempted to either go to the doctors, or contact the Health Visitor (on the off chance you think they will be any help).

Thanks Losing. I will give her a call - she is sensible and lovely Shock

He has just had a suck on some toast and is fingers crossed ok. I am hoping he plays the usual trick of being fine once I post about a problem on mumsnet Grin
