Blueberries & BLW - to cut or not

Gave DS blueberries for the first time recently, and there was a difference of opinions among friends over whether they should be cut or not.

I always halve grapes, but should I be halving blueberries?

I would, blueberries just the right size to block a small windpipe - still halve them for my 2 yr old, but maybe I'm just paranoid...

lyra41 · 23/02/2011 14:25

go for it, better safe than hanging your child upside down trying to dislodge it....

justalittleblackraincloud · 23/02/2011 14:26

Nope, never have done.

I have never cut blueberries in half either. I might start doing now though!

I guess I'll start cutting them. The replies here are pretty similar to the situation with my friends. A couple did and a couple didn't.

Thanks :)

Ds is 12 months and has been having bluberries about 6 weeks. I never cut them but I do grapes.

I used to squish them

PartialToACupOfMilo · 06/03/2011 22:56

I cut them once when we had a punnet of particularly big ones and she refused to eat them! They're usually her favourite food ! Confused

Ozziegirly · 07/03/2011 09:07

I squish them too.

LadyBiscuit · 07/03/2011 09:09

I didn't and one got stuck (a really fat one) so I squashed them after that
