Can anyone help me please? I started weaning my baby boy at 41/2 months due to vitamin deficiency. It was going really well, he ate most things I gave him, and had never been sicky before. About 3 weeks ago he started occasionaly vomiting and has gradually got worse. Vomiting usually starts about lunch time, and goes on all evening, and sometimes in the night. Think he had a bug last week too as I was also vomiting. He usually manages to keep his breast milk down, but is now refusing most solids. I am confused as it started so well for over a month. Dr has given gaviscon, but doesn't seem to help. Also he has not had a poo for 3 days now!

I really don't know what to do, please help.

It doesn't sound like reflux to me (as far as i'm aware gaviscon is only prescribed for reflux?). And if it was reflux, most people seem to say that improves with weaning rather than gets worse. I can't imagine he has silent reflux (ie heart burn without being sick - it makes them very unhappy) previously that has now turned into full reflux?? I would seek a second opinion. Good luck

had silent reflux

He may have had silent reflux as he was always distressed after feeds. I've decided to stop solids for a couple of days and see how it goes just breast feeding, then start weaning again.

My son had something similiar to this when I weaned. He was fine on fruit or veg, but when I started introducing grains, he projectile vomitted til ha had nothing in his tum but bile, and then was terribly lethargic for an hour or two. Up until the age of 1.7 I exclusively fed him on breastmilk, fruit, and selected veg, with occasional reintroductions of his triggers, until he was no longer vommiting.

He is 9 now, with no food issues, but when he was five I stumbled across something called FPIES on the internet. I really think this was the problem he had, as all the symptoms matched perfectly.
