Hi

I want to make my own purees for DD. I have attempted a few - carrot, apple, sweet potato but when I tried her with it she wasn't impressed. I wondered if they might be too thick and lumpy so bought a few Ella's kitchen pouches. They are just like thick smoothie and DD LOVES them - Any tips for getting mine that smooth?

Have got a mini blended but my purees are made of tiny little lumps rather than being smooth

I used a hand blender which worked quite well, sometimes there was the odd lump but I just took it out, I wouldn't worry too much though, it will only be a couple of weeks until you need to start giving DD lumpy food! Hope all goes well

lumps are good. your baby will have to get used to real food sooner or later, rather than food in drink-form

i would stick to finger foods and homemade purees- far easier in the long-run

Lumps are fine.

If you want them to be really smooth you will probably need to put in your blender and then push through a sieve. This should give a really smooth puree.

i used to use a hand blender and add a bit of milk to make them really smooth. He only had them like that for a couple of weeks tho then i jst started mashing with a fork and gradually made them lumpier

The way to get puree really smooth is to put in quite alot of water and use a hand blender. Some baby jars list water as an ingredient. Obviously this is not the way forward, babies eat lumpy purees in the end.

Butternut squash makes a nice smooth puree.
