Just wondered if anyone had used the net feeder bags? (a net bag you put food into so baby can chew on it but can't choke on large chunks of food.) I saw them on amazon and wondered if they were any good- my boy is 18 weeks and i'm hoping to go down the baby led weaning route and i thought these bag thingies might be a good idea. Any thoughts?

No, just let him have normal food! That's the whole point of BLW. He won't learn to manage food if it comes with mesh around it.

Honestly - it just seemed to get a bit manky. But was useful if dd was in pram. Didn't use it much at all. Just chop it up smaller

I've seen these and they're just rather silly! I could imagine a child with some sort of SN might need something like that, but I can't imagine why your developmentally average 6 monther would need them.

They look a bit too much like bird feeders to me.

We possibly could have benefited from one in about the two week window between just touching chunks of fruit, and actually picking them up and nibbling them. But we survived without, and I'm glad. They're a bit artifical - who eats food through a net in real life?

I got one and put a banana in. Was unusable after that as it all got ingrained in the net! Far easier to give normal food and keep a close eye on them.

No - just did the BLW with the last one and that worked fine. They don't choke on bits if they are ready - maybe gag a little bit, but you learn to relax through that Grin

I bought one but haven't used it yet. My sister recomended it and said she had used it before her DS was starting solids but wanted to be involved in famly meals so had semi frozen expressed brest millk in it. She did the same with it for when he was teathing too. As I said though, never even got round to opening mine so can't comment personally (though not started weaning yet either, holding off the mess for just one more week I think!)
