Constipated 7mo - cut down on solids?

Hi

My 7mo was weaned at around 5.5 months with no constipation problems. She got a nasty cold at around 6 months and went right off solids for a couple of weeks. Since starting back on them she seems to be suffering from constipation.

She has 2 meals a day, plenty of fruit and veg and we mostly do BLW. She's not cut back on any breastfeeds since weaning so I don't think she needs more fluids. A bit of diluted orange juice helps get things going again but I'd rather find a way of avoiding the constipation altogether instead of just treating it when it happens iyswim.

Should I be cutting back on solids do you think? She loves them and eats anything and everything very enthusiastically! She copes amazingly well with all finger food too.

Soft prunes...since I've been giving a couple of those to DD for breakfast, (and she likes them - they're pretty nutritious, too) nappy filling has been an easy experience for her Grin

I usually cut them into quarters for her and she has them alongside her porridge and a couple of segments of fresh pear...

DS suffered with constipation a little during the early months of solids. In the end I figured out it was the rice cakes he was having. More than 1 or 2 a day and he got bunged up and suffered terribly. So we just cut down to that and the constipation cleared up completely with no other treatment required Smile

Try giving the baby some water with meals / just to sip at during the day.

Also make sure they're not eating too many bananas.

And try adding dried fruit into fruit purees and yoghurt

Bananas are not too good on the constipation front either.

Try Baby Stomach Ease tea. It helps with babies digestion and is 100% natural. It worked for my DD when she started to eat solid. Never had any constipation problems since.

Echo the prune advise, my DD absolutely loves a couple of spoonfuls in with her breakfast porridge. PLus she has a few sips of water with each meal.
