7 month old won't eat food

I have been trying to feed my baby since she was 5 months when she started to show an interest in what i was eating but she won't let the food go down. At first she used to just stick her tongue out everytime i put a spoonful in which would make it all come out and now she's 7 months she will either clamp her mouth shut or turn her head away once the first spoonful has been given. I have tried everything- finger food, purees (both home cooked and jars), feeding her off my plate, giving her a bowl. Its not because she isn't hungry and she seems interested until it gets in her mouth then she does a 'yucky' face and its out. The only things i've managed to get down her is mango baby brekkie and carrot snack things. She is the same with drinks. This means she mainly has milk and i'm worried she isn't having enough nutrients and hydration. Is anyone else experiencing this? Has anyone got any tips? Should i be worried?

Sounds like she's just not there yet. Keep offering things without pressure and ensure she gets as much milk as she wants. Make sure she's growing and developing and if she is then don't worry too much.

Speak to your HV, but tbh I think most babies will just do things when they are ready. My neighbour said her DD didn't start eating til she was 9 months. Don't force it in the meantime - you don't want her to have negative connotations to eating. It should be fun. (If all she'll have is a spoonful, maybe just stick with that every now and then until she gets used to the idea and opens her mouth for more). Good luck.

My ds wouldn't eat anything properly either until he was about 10mths. The hv's advice was v unhelpful for me she just said stop bfing him and then he'll be hungry and eat Hmm have you tried giving her finger food? My ds would (sometimes!) eat pieces of soft fruit eg mango, melon etc, he would also (occasionally) eat baby rice cakes . I think he liked the control element with the finger food! Now, at coming up for 2 he eats a good varied diet and will try lots of different things so it does get better!

I would try finger foods, soft carrot sticks and the like. maybe she just doesn*t like beeing fed with spoons.
my dd would not really eat until something clicked around 9 months and now at 13 months she eats more than her 4y brother!

Just to add - my DD (7m) started at 25 weeks and is pretty disinterested. I have been offering purees and some finger food and she mostly just turns her head away and occasionally gums the finger food and drops it on the floor!
I have been getting v stressed about it but I know this is not helping at all - I guess I just have to be patient!
