6 mo being sick since weaning started

OK, so I'm starting to wean my DD who is just 6mo (I know, too late according to today's news, but who knew.....)

She has be EBF since bith. I starting weaning about a week ago. So far she had pureed fruit and veggies. Just tried her on yogurt, but was very unpopular!

Since we started with the weaning, she has been sick frequently, usually after her milk feeds. She was never a "sickie" baby and was only very rarely sick, but in the last week it has been 3-4 times after every feed. Strangely she seems to keep the solids down better that milk feeds.

Is this normal? Does anyone else have the same experience? Should I stop with the solids for a bit or persevere, and just keep mopping up the sick?

She has a bit of a cold which started today, but is otherwise her normal self. Lots of dribble/handsucking so I suspect teeth are not too far off.

Thanks!

Perhaps she is too full up if she is still BF as much and hence vomits. You could go back to EBF for a few days to see if she stops vomiting and then introduce just one solid food at lunchtime with water to drink and not give a BF for a few hours. Stick to the one kind of SF for a few days so that you can identify if any make her sick. One of my children couldn't keep down anything with banana in it until she was well over a year old. This same child took a long time to be weaned - carrots, apple puree and baby rice seemed to be all she could stomach until 8 months - she just was not ready (even though when she was born she was over 2 weeks late).

good luck

Thanks haggis. I think I'll go back to basics and start again, slower. So much for the news today that 6 months is too late to start weaning, I think it is more likely too early for my DD.
