Baby allowed juice?

Hi :)

I've been looking on Google (as you do! lol) and there seems to be conflicting advice so thought would canvas opinion on here! Grin

My lo is nearly 8 months old, and for a few weeks I've been giving her Robinsons Cordial in a sippy cup which she seems to like - I dilute it hugely, less than 1oz and the remaining bottle topped up with water (to about 5oz level) - is this ok?

Some say "no juices at all", some say "has to be diluted fruit juice not cordial" so not sure if I'm doing wrong - she's just getting teeth through so I know it'll be important to clean them properly.

She does have water too, but seems to drink more if its flavoured slightly and I feel happier if she drinks more fluids than less as she's dropping some milk feeds now she's on food.

I wouldn't. Once you start she won't want water, not to mention the sugar.

yes just water, they dont need juice :)

TickettyBoo · 10/01/2011 23:10

Decision made lol, no more juice, water it is :) She's young enough not to do battle over so I'd rather stop it now rather than later

Thanks for the unanimous vote! lol :) xx

You will spend months training her to drink water when she starts nursery/school

Stick with water - as an adult she will be healthier

FWIW, 1oz cordial to 4oz water doesn't sound very dilute to me - as an adult I would dilute cordial more than that!

Even if you're giving juice, "they" recommend 1 part juice to 10 parts water, cordial is more concentrated than juice so should be even more.

I would stick to water too.

HTH

Thanks all, have switched to water today and she's been drinking it fine so it makes sense to leave juice till she's a bit older :)
