Is it safe to give cheddar / Philadelphia etc at 7 months?

I know to avoid blue cheese, Brie, Camembert etc but am I ok to give my DS 'standard' cheeses now? I think so but DH thinks not.

Mine loved fingers of bread with phili on at that age. They'd also gum sticks of mild cheddar.

I didn't even know you were supposed to avoid brie etc - thought it was just salt, honey and whole nuts.
