Help.

I am just about to start weaning but want to prepare my own food. Can i start them on anything as long as it is pureed?
Any advice from those who know what they are doing would be fab.

Depends how old your LO is.

If they are 6 months, then anything except whole nuts and other obvious choking hazard like raw apple, and no honey until 1. No cow's milk as a main drink until 1 but you can use it on cereal and in cooking.

And if your LO is old enough to sit up in a high chair and pick up and put things in his / her mouth, then you don't even need to puree! Google baby led weaning and see what you find. Or if you don't fancy going the whole hog then you could do a bit of purees and a bit of finger food...

Here is a link to NHS's "Birth to Five" - there is a whole section on introducing solid food.

Good luck! And really, don't stress, it's fun!

Oops, and forgot to say no added sugar or salt, and eggs have to be cooked through.

Phew! Think that's it. Smile

Hi i started mine on simple things so as not to overload her with to many new foods at once, carrots and swede puree and apple and pear, sweet potato,i found it quite nerve racking but as soon as i started i loved watching her explore new things shes 10months now and into everything Smile
