Is this a growth spurt or just normal?

Hi,

My friend has a five month old little girl who she started weaning a few weeks back in the hopes that her baby would sleep through.

But she says that her little girl is still getting up at random intervals during the night and describes her sleep as being a bit all over the place.

She's asking for a bit of advice and I wondered if anyone here could help (I can't, we're still cracking BF). Is her little girl just going through the four month growth spurt or could it be something else?

Thanks

I think your friend will find that her baby is "a baby" and they take time to "go through". My DS did at 8 weeks until 15 weeks and then never did again until he was 8 months.

They are contrary little things and when they start on solids they seem to wake a lot more through the night for a while before settling into it.

If her baby was 9-10 months and still all over the place then she might want to start doing something about it.

Good luck with BFing!

It could be the solids? If she is filling her baby up with typical weaning foods then her DDs overall calorie intake could have dropped, leading her to wake more in the night.

It could be a growth spurt too, though most likely not if this has been going on for weeks, more likely to just be how the baby is.
