DS is 13 weeks old, and has powdery poo!! Nice thread i know, but i'll continue....he's bottle fed, and have tried giving him cooled boiled water but he is so not interested. I even got a syringe type thing from the chemist but he just spits it back out at me.

Anyway, i spoke to my HV and she said there are some juices that are suitable for babies 3 months +, but neglected to tell me what they were. Anyway, i've just looked on t'internet and the only ones i can find are for 4 months +

Anyone got any ideas as to where i might find them?

You can get them from boots but IME they got the same treatment as cooled boiled water.

unless it is hot he probably won't take much of anything you offer him to drink. Think Boots do some waters with a hint of flavour but think you'll find he'll take the water if you persist and if he really needs it. tbh seems a bit young to me to be introducing such things unless he is very constipated, could you change milk and see if a different one suits him better.

its totally normal for babies to decline the water initially but if its all they are offered they will eventually take it.and that might take two months! dont be surprised at that. and just becuase water is flavoured (or a juice) doesnt mean they ll like it instantly either.
the benefits of just having your baby liking water at 12/18mths and older will be far more advantageous.
clear skin, no sugary drinks, at his age they dont need a sweet taste.

Water water water , you'll be chuffed to say in a few months time - he drinks water!

I've been trying to give him water since he was 6 weeks old, and he will take a tiny bit, but struggles so much he just ends up swallowing more air than water, and as he has always suffered with his wind, i don't want to keep forcing it on him.

Will try a tiny bit of juice, and if he likes it, i'll gradually put less and less in, and if he doesn't like it, then its only cost me about 1 pound 50 so no harm done!

If i can find the bloomin thing that is

I'm really glad that I've just read this thread. I've been trying to get DD (7 months) to drink some water for ages and ages and tried all sorts of bottles and beakers etc. Today, as DD is a bit constipated, i've got 3 on the go to try and see if she'll drink even one of them....

-beaker with diluted fresh organic grapefruit juice
-beaker with diluted cow and gate berry juice
-bottle with water with some mashed up pear in it.

Shall I pour them all down the sink and just persevere with the water?

If your dd is on solids you could use some of the water from stewing fruit such as pear as a base flavour and then dilute it further. However I'd only do it as an exception, with meals, and for constipation a little stewed dried fruit with plain fromage frais would probably work as well. Babies under a year really don't tend to drink much other than milk unless it is very hot, so it is worth persisiting with water.
