anyone got any quick tips, my 7 an a half month old dd has been massively fussy for the past month or so, she sometimes takes a couple of teaspoons of food with a look on her face like im shovelling s**t in her mouth then she'll refuse anything else....until it gets to desert time...... its so frustrating im going mad

She's still young so don't worry too much, just keep offering food. DS didn't eat well until nearly 9 months and now he eats like a horse (17 months)

well thats good news :) i'm gonna keep trying....but its just soul destroying cooking all these lovely foods that end up getting thwacked off the spoon! Shock she just had a right good suck on a bit of my pizza crust though....

I know how you feel...cooking food that goes straight in the bin uneaten was definitely soul destroying! I was so stressed about it, partly because I wanted him to eat so he would sleep through as I was so tired but all of a sudden he seemed to get it.
I did go down the route of buying Organix and Ella's Kitchen food for a few months as he seemed to eat that rather my mine but as I say it's all good now!
Yes and they always love the not so healthy stuff Wink

How is she with finger foods?

potpot1 · 17/11/2010 16:37

I have exactly the same with my 9 month baby and it is so frustrating... I'm not sure what I am going to try next, he doesn't even like the bottle so I can't top him up with that!

So relieved to see this here. My 8 month old is doing exactly the same thing. Fed fine from 6 months... didn't refuse anything. But is now refusing everything except cauliflower cheese and yoghurts. This week I've binned meal after meal of things she previously accepted.

It does seem to have coincided with me trying to move her on to stage 2 foods. She hated anything I made with chicken in. I tried burying it in veg rather than waste it which worked for a while and I thought I had it sussed, then - bam! - she just started to refused everything. Don't know if there's any link or if it's just coincidence. Confused
The only thing that makes me wonder if this is possibly a teething thing (we have no teeth yet) is that she's been faffing around with her bottles as well.

I'm trying so hard not to flap at this as I know I've flapped at every other hiccup along the way so far. But I am worried about her not getting enough nutrients - especially iron - and not progressing with the whole weaning thing. Oh - and it's NOT finger foods she needs. Tried that and she is NOT interested.

Sigh... when does the whole "aaargh-wtf-is-going-on-now" thing stop?!

hey same here; started off ok 6-7 months ish, ate fine - all pureed packet organic stuff- ( plum/organix/ellas kitchen which is the best- great packaging for travelling )then onto more homemade .suddenly at 9 months, nil-by-spoon!refused all only FF small nibbles- now she's 10 months and still picky, only nibbles at bread, sometimes cheese.
im also worried about her iron as she's quite pale and often looks tired.i have started her on a tiny bit of feroglobin and will try spatone water ( high in iron ) at some point to top up her iron; why dont they have baby vitamins solution or is there one out there?!
but maybe i need to relax as you say; she will get there its just hard when everyone in my baby group seems to have their tot on 3 meals no prob!
