9 month old eating starting to eat less, not more

My dd is 9.5 months now and seems to be eating less than she did when she first started blw at 6 months. used to love eating strips of chicken, roast potatoes, veggie sticks etc. nowadays shows little interest in picking up the food i put in front of her. she is mainly spoon fed at nursery. would htis be the reason for her not wanting to feed herself now? seems to only like to eat bread at the moment (so have started to make my own!) and yoghurt. still breastfed up to 5 x during the day and twice at night. should i refuse feeds to get her to eat more or is feeding on demand still the thing to do?

She's probably teething. Wait a few weeks, it will pass. Try not to worry. :)

DS and DD both did this. It's not easy when you're surrounded by mums who rave about how much their DCs eat, but I think for some babies it can be quite normal for them to eat very little for days at a time. I used to worry about how much I felt they "should" have been eating at this stage, when actually I've finally relaxed about it and figure they will eat when they're hungry.

Frustratingly, both would wolf down everything in nursery! - Re: BF, some babies will eat more if they've had a small feed first - some need to be hungry ready for their food, so depends on the timings of your feeds really. - What does she do at nursery? does she have a btl there and what are their timings - could it help to try similar timings to them?

yes, keep telling myself not to worry, that she will not starve herself etc, plus she appears healthy and is gaining weight as normal. she also eats more at nursery than at home when with other babies all doing the same thing. she is offered formula there but will only drink up to 2 oz, but then drinks lots of water. i pick her up at 3pm and feed her straightaway and i think she has learnt to eat/drink just as much as she needs to sustain her til she sees me again. then she has a bit of a feeding frenzy. yes, it is frustrating, but hope as you say, it will pass.

10 m.o. DS has done this from time to time. He eats less in the way of solids than he did at 7 months. I just let him eat / not eat whatever he likes.

He has 6-7 bfs in the day and 2-4 at night too. Milk should be the main source of nutrition till 12 months.
