Shall I add an extra meal, or is there no point?

Hey ladies, just canvassing opinion on what you'd all do really...

I'm planning to start introducing teatime to my 8mo next week - that'll bring him up to 3 meals a day. But... he isn't all that interested in foods, hardly eats anything even though I give him a wide variety of stuff (purees and finger foods). I know it's all about exploring and fun rather than nutrition at this point, but is there much point in adding in another meal if he's not going to eat it? My organised head says yes he needs the routine of 3 meals, but part of me hates the waste!

Any thoughts?

We've introduced teatime to DD this week (7.5mo). The first two nights were brilliant - she slept better, but last night was not so great and tonight she didn't eat much.

I do think that it helps to set a routine of sorts up though, because then it's already in place when they want/need more food. You don't need to put out much food - tonight's meal was only a couple of strips of chicken breast and some naan.
