My mother's weaning theories

...for judgment / scoff / pity

  • in 'her day' (the 1970s) you were "wrongly" frowned upon for weaning before 3 months.
  • the reason children are so 'faddy' these days is because they are not weaned early enough. 6 months is far too late.
  • she started me on some boiled egg at 3 weeks. Apparently I didn't like it. Hmm
  • she is a HCP btw.

ha, my mother came out with some gems too, apparently she was given frozen concentrated orange juice to give me from three months to "fatten me up" - geee thanks Mum, what on earth did that do to my bowels? My arse must have been agony!

according to my mil, dh's bro ate nothing except weetabix for 2 years Shock

When I suggested perhaps it might have felt like that at the time, I was occused of calling mil a liar Grin

Very funny though

My sister was given baby rice in her bottle from 2 weeks as she deemed a "hungry" baby! My sister has battled with her weight since she was a teenager - I wonder if there's a link!
