Raw fruits?

DS (7 months) is in creche 4 days a week, and he's basically on their eating schedule. He has puree (meat and vegetables) at lunchtime - around 11.30 - and they want to start introducing fruit in the afternoon, alongside his bottle. The paediatrician has OK'd this, and I've given him cooked fruit at home, so I'm happy for them to start it.

However, yesterday he apparently refused to eat any fruit, and I'm wondering if it's a texture thing. Apparently they don't cook the fruit, but puree raw, peeled fruit - pears, apples, bananas - all of which he will eat at home cooked. I tried at the weekend to make a puree with uncooked apple and it had a horrible grainy texture. Am I missing something, or is it not possible to make a nice puree from raw apples/pears?

Any help/advice gratefully received....

My 8 month old loves apple and pear cut into pieces and stewed until soft - she's never agreed to take any fruit pureed so I gave up on that! Also, she now won't take anything at all from a spoon so I just put stewed fruit (and quite often raw, whole pieces too) and boiled or steamed veg in front of her and let her get on with it - mealtimes now a breeze :-)
Other fruit she has cut into pieces and raw: kiwi, orange (pips and hard bits of skin removed), melon, grapes (I halve them and used to take the skin off too but now she can manage them skin on), banana, nectarine, peach, apricot.
I didn't set out to do baby-led weaning but I guess that's what she's ended up teaching me to do! Good luck....

Best advice I can give? Let them get on with it. They know what they're doing.

DS has massive sensory issues, crappy diet etc. the main reason for this is texture. PLEASE give foods of all shapes and textures now, before they get to the picky age,
