so far DD has tried apple slices, pear slices, chunk of banana, cucumber slices and a stick of cheese, along with some preloaded spoons of my oatibix :)

I think the only thing she has actually 'eaten" was possibly the oatibix, although she did suck the fruit for a long time!!

I think because she is 26 weeks and has been grabbing at my food for a while I expected a bit more actual eating... does this sound about right???

There is no 'normal' for day 2 - every baby is different!

It sounds like she is doing great.

The start is far more sucking and tasting as opposed to eating. Give her time, she is still trying to work out how to break bits of food off and get them to the back of her mouth.

Totally normal! Sounds like she's doing brilliantly Smile

My DS appeared to eat nothing at the start (though bits did appear in his nappy that showed something must have gone in) - it was all sucking, holding, squeezing, swooping around while he looked at it, etc. He seemed to "get" the eating by the end of the first week. Though even now (over a month in) he still sometimes appears to eat nothing. Belgo is right - every baby is different!

My 29 week old is at the same stage - despite having started weaning at 24 weeks. We have just got over the look of disgust on his face at every mouthful - so it sounds like you are doing well Wink

It was a good couple of months before my daughter actually ate much, don't worry!
