Week 2 of weaning. Sorry, a poo question...

Hi,

We are into our 2nd week of weaning 6mo DS. I'm mainly doing purees but he's taken to it with gusto so we are already on 3 meals a day (main and then dessert). It was all porridge, veg and fruit but the last couple of days have been chicken casserole.

He is still BF as much as before (even waking for a extra feed at night Sad!).

So, when he was EBF he was only a once-a-week man. The last few days he has gone 5-6 times! They are solid and not usually very much (just a nugget - sorry, TMI!). Just wanted to check if this is normal for starting weaning? Should they start to consolidate a bit more as his tummy gets used to it? Should they really be this solid already? He doesn't seem in any pain doing them so don't think he is constipated.

I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing but it is just such a change for him. And the number of nappies and wipes we are using... Grin

My DD's poos completely changed when I started weaning her...as you say very very solid...(and more"real poo" like Grin)

Her frequencey of pooing became odd though loads on one day not a thing for two.....quite unpredicatble.

I am sure what you explain is quite normal.
....and yes....introducing solids really does make the baby wipe pile get smaller too quickly.

Yes, poo frequency often changes a lot. It sounds like he's eating lots quite quickly which may be why you've seen a sudden change.

It does calm down! :)

Thanks for replies. For the last couple of days the frequency has dropped to 3-4 per day and they seem a bit bigger so think things are (slowly) calming down. I just never realised that it would change so suddenly - I'm actually quite sad that he's finished the purely breastfed poo stage! Blimey I think I'm going mad ...!
