putting all my veggies in the pot

hi there

am going to start making purees today, and was just wondering if it mattered if i put all the veggies in one pot together? am going to steam them, and then thought i could separate them out and puree them. i know part of weaning is introducing different flavours, but if i'm steaming is this OK and will they still retain their flavours?

it just seems a lot of faff to do each veg individually in the pot, it'll take me all day!

TIA

I think it isn't the mix of flavour that is a problem but if there is a chance your LO is allergic to something and it could contaminate the other veg. If you steam them altogether it would be really difficult to decifer what the cause is if an allergy occurs.....I could be wrong though.

Good luck with the purees...now the fun starts :)

Personally I went straight to mixing stuff together, eg courgette + potato, parsnip + carrot. I don't think you need to separate them really. If your baby has an allergy to vegetables, then yes you are left being uncertain which one it is, but tbh this is highly unlikely.

I did that OP. Steamed all sorts, pureed it all up, placed it in the freezer and it had me set up for the week ahead.

Plus you know what's going in to, too. My DS loved sweet potato, broccoli and cauliflower.

hmm i wonder if the concern about allergies is leftover from the days when advice was to wean before 6 months then...anyway all done, separately, but i plan to mix cubes soon into weaning. I just have to wait a month before starting to use them-ds is only 22 weeks and im just being super efficient at planning ahead!
