Growth spurt or should I start the baby rice?? HELP!!

DD is almost 20 weeks and exclusively BF. She has had 10 blissful weeks of feeding once during the night and has had 6 feeds during every 24 hours...
Until last week, when things have gone haywire:
she has now started waking to feed twice a night at completely unpredictable intervals, has added another feed 15 mins after her normal bedtime, and some feeds are a lot earlier than I'd expect.
All that seems to suggest she is ravenous - we have toughed it out for 7 days and I need reassuring that this is much too long for it to be just a growth spurt that will go away.

I'd love to wait until 6 months to wean, but this has been such a big dramatic change I can't ignore it - or is it worth waiting a bit longer?
Also, if I do get the baby rice, how much do I give first? And do I try it every day, or give her gut a bit longer to recover from the new experience of solids? Some thoughts would be massively appreciated - my HV is off sick, so haven't got an official type person to ask!

Give it another 7 days - at least then she will be 21 weeks. I found ds's spurts were more like 2 weeks than 1.

Could it be her teeth? My dd did this at about the same age. We toughed it out, and about a week or two later, two teeth appeared. She wanted to feed for the comfort, rather than the food.

Wait longer if you can - it really is better.

also heard that when baby is getting the hang of a new skill eg roll over, sitting up etc. they have more disruptive sleep. mine is 20+ wks so ikwym. today I tried out a new sleep position (on side with a rolled up towel behind to keep on side) and when she stirred, I patted & shushed her and its worked 2x to keep her from waking.

alux - would love to know what happened. i'm going throught the same thing with my 18 week old ds - previously a good sleeper (typically 7-4) but for the last week has woken between 2 and 4 times in the night and the only way to gte him back to sleep has been to feed him. am knackered!

have the baby rice ready, but would rather wait if possible...

(ds exclusively BF and quite a big lad - around 17lbs)
