Quick - daft question about defrosting/heating

Just got some frozen cubes of apple out of the freezer for my 6mth old dd and instead of just defrosting them I put the heat too high on the microwave and they're now piping hot. I've got it in my head that I'm supposed to defrost before heating but not sure why. Is this right?

I've done this - I just let them cool and it was fine. The really important thing to defrost properly is white meat I believe.

Thank you! Felt a bit daft asking tbh - thought it was something I ought to know...
