Mixing Formula with cows milk in bottles?

Hi - been asked by a friend with 10 month old twins if she can mix formula with cows milk in their bottles. My DS is 4 now and I can't remember last week never mind 3 years ago when he started cows milk, but I think the advice then was not to mix it (reckon it would taste pretty rank anyway). The twins eat really well and have cows milk on their cereal. I have found a couple of messages on here where people have put 10 month (ish) babies on to cows milk. Any thoughts please?

sometimes they dont like the change in taste when going straight to cows milk so a way of getting round that is to gradually mix cows milk with formula to introduce the taste bit by bit. My 2 never seemed to notice the difference and took the cows milk with no problem without having to resort to mixing with formula.

I'd stick with only formula until at least a year old. They really do need all the nutrition they get from formula. Cow's milk just doesn't provide it all.

My daughter will go on a 12 months+ formula after a year, I'm a bit loathe to introduce cow's milk so early.

There is little point in using formula after 1 year unless your lo is a particularly fussy eater. Full fat cows milk is fine from 1 year and if you feel their diet is lacking in vitamins then you could add in a vitamin supplement which would probaly still work out cheaper than using formula. Formula is made from cows milk so they have already been introduced to it.

I had to mix from age one to gradually get DD onto cows milk.
