So what should he drink now?

Posted in feeding and weaning couldn't decide where was best for this...

DS is 13m now and I am thinking of giving up Bfing if I can get the wee man to drink something other than BM.
At the moment he doesn't drink anything other than water and is bf twice a day (bedtime and 4am grr). I have tried cows milk cold, warm, hot, in a cup, bottle, with a straw. But he only every takes two or three sips and then starts spitting it out.
I tried some formula stuff on saturday on the advice of the pharmacist cos apparently it tastes more like bm; he seemed to quite like this and had about 7 sips.
But thats it, he won't drink anymore and doesn't seem to associate drinking with cups/bottles, just boobs.
SO my question is...can I just stop bfing and give me milky foods and a great diet or does he still need milk to drink.
AND if he does still need it, how on earth do I get him to drink it?

I stopped bf dd2 at 13 1/2 months. She wouldn't drink any form of milk. She did eat lots of milk with her cereal and she ate yogurt. She has done well. I gave her water to drink except with her evening meal when she nas milk. At first she hardly touvhed but now drinks it all ( she is nearly 2) As long as he has a varied diet he should be fine. Be casual about it as the more you try to force it, the more he will fight you!

My HV said if that they won't drink it then don't worry, just put it in food instead.
