Good foods for sore throat?

DS has a horrible cold at the moment and has a sore throat - as confirmed by trip to Dr as accompanied by sinister rash.

He's still hungry, but isn't keen to eat as swallowing hurts. So, he's being a bit of a monster as doesn't really understand (8mo).

I've upped his milk feeds (BF) but need some ideas for easy to swallow stuff for solids as milk alone just isn't cutting it with him (normally loves his food). We do a mix of spoon/finger foods. Ideally stuff that works chilled as he seems happier with cold stuff.

I must admit that I'm buying a few pouches/jars as they're much smoother than I'm prepared able to get things at home. But, don't want to do this for long as it's expensive/IMHO not as good as home-cooked stuff.

Any ideas please?

(can guarantee that he feels rubbish, as he's very kindly passed the cold/sore throat on to me - at least I can use throat spray!)

hi, my ds (almost 7m) had tonsilitis last week and the doctor recommended cold fruit purees. I cooked batches of pear, apple, peach, etc and blended them really smooth.
He wasn't that interested in solids anyway, but he would only take cold stuff.
I hope your ds feels better soon.
