When to feed regular rice

Hi all - DS is 6 1/2 months old and I started weaning about 4 weeks ago - can anyone tell me when you can give regular rice ( as in grains) - as opposed to the baby rice?

They can have it in purees right from the start, increasing the coarseness of it as you introduce lumpier foods.

Once they don't gag on lumps. Once they manage well the lumps in purees you can add a bit of very well cooked rice to them, but I would say that being the first month or weaning probably that's several weeks away. It depends in the baby, but comercial baby food do not use them on their own until 9- 12 months, not that they are a good guideline though.

make sure its well cooked so its nice and soft!

Alternatively, if you're not doing purees, you can give grains of rice from the start.

Thanks all - I think we will make the rice nice and squishy and slowly add it to his diet - much appreciate the advice.
